Although Connie Leigh was born in Middletown, Ohio, the hills of eastern Kentucky surrounded the only life that she knew until 2003, when she relocated to northeast Arkansas. She was raised at the "head of a holler" and is still just a "hillbilly girl."

Singing was a part of Connie's being ever since she can remember. To her, music was her way of learning to escape the realities of life that were not always pleasant to deal with. Her songs share the feelings left inside that are associated with the problems that often arise from growing up in a troubled alcoholic home. Her songs have a way of captivating audiences of all genres due to the straightforward lyrics often portrayed in her songs.

After traveling extensively singing gospel songs in churches for 8 years, Connie decided to try her hand in the bluegrass genre. She began writing bluegrass songs in 2005, and by 2007, she had cuts by artists such as Rhonda Vincent, Larry Stephenson, Larry Sparks, Dale Ann Bradley, and Doyle Lawson.

2007 marked her greatest year of success as a bluegrass songwriter, as she held both the #1 and #2 spots on national charts in September. "Sadie's Got Her New Dress On" retained the #1 position for five consecutive months, and was nominated in both the SPBGMA and IBMA for the "Song of the Year" award. CMT and GAC have also released "Sadie" in a video.

She has since co-written with great writers such as Larry Cordle, Larry Shell, Ronnie Bowman, Jerry Salley, Rhonda Vincent, Buddy Cannon, Erika Chambers, and Tom T. and Dixie Hall.

"I am truly humbled that people seem to like the lyrics of my songs. When I first decided to work on a bluegrass music writing career, I would have never dreamed that the things would happen that have. I don't take it lightly and pretend that I don't know how it came about either. " I am truly thankful to God for giving me an outlet for my feelings. He has been awfully good to me, and in fact, better than I deserve." "Though I am not one who never misses a Sunday morning church service, I do know God, and I love him. I feel that he knows us as nobody else does; and I sometimes wonder why he has blessed my music as much as he has. I am thankful though, and hope he sees fit to continue to do so." -Connie
